Easy Signs takes fabric printing one step further in Aust first
Easy Signs is the first Australian print and signage company to introduce CiCLO technology
Easy Signs has become the first Australian print and signage company to adopt CiCLO technology, introducing it to its product range through its popular Stretch Fabric Media Walls.
CiCLO is a patented additive built into polyester and nylon fibres during manufacturing, creating microscopic points which is already being used in other textile sectors. The microscopic points allow the material to biodegrade in environmental waste, similar to a natural fibre, without changing how the fabric looks, prints, or performs.
Independent, accredited lab testing under international standards – including ISO 19679 for seawater and ISO 15985 for landfill conditions – found CiCLO-enhanced fabric reached over 90 per cent biodegradation within roughly two and a half to four years, compared to almost none for untreated polyester over the same period.
For an industry that relies heavily on synthetic fabrics, Easy Signs said this move addresses a growing pressure point – what happens to display materials at end of life, and the microplastic pollution risk when synthetic fabric signage is discarded or lost as litter?
Easy Signs director Andy Fryer said, “We wanted to explore this innovation as we’re always looking for new ways to improve and offer our customers more. Being first mattered to us. We have clients right across the country, from councils to major brands, who, like us, are looking for better ways to operate more sustainably and think ahead.
“We’re already seeing a growing preference for more sustainable options from our customers, proving there’s a real appetite for products that help businesses make a difference.”
The Stretch Fabric Media Walls are the first product Easy Signs is using CiCLO technology in – with fabric banners, table throws, and crowd control barriers now in development.
The chemistry used to make CiCLO is ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX certified and REACH compliant, and testing has been carried out by third-party laboratories including Intertek, Bureau Veritas, and Eden Research Laboratory.
