Meteor Inkjet Ltd, a leading independent supplier of industrial inkjet printhead driving solutions, today announced that its PDC-2K600EX printhead drive electronics will support the new Kyocera KJ4A-EX600RC-HX recirculating printhead on its release, expected in November. OEMs and print system builders can integrate the new head using the same Meteor hardware, software and APIs they already rely on, removing much of the cost, time and risk involved in bringing new printing systems to market.

Designed for label and packaging applications, the new Kyocera printhead is particularly suited to demanding fluids used for embellishment, such as white ink, varnish and foil adhesives. Its internal recirculation technology maintains fluid flow close to the nozzles, helping to prevent pigment settling and fluid drying at the nozzles, while maintaining a consistent temperature. These capabilities help maintain reliable jetting and reduce maintenance when working with heavily pigmented or high-viscosity fluids.

Higher speed, larger drops for print embellishment

The KJ4A-EX600RC-HX also offers increased drop volume and operating frequency compared with Kyocera’s earlier KJ4A-AL printhead. With a maximum drop volume of 21 picolitres, an increase of 23%, it supports applications requiring greater white ink opacity and thicker, more tactile varnish and foil effects. Its operating frequency has doubled to 40 kHz, supporting production speeds of up to 100 metres per minute.

Jonathan Wilson, sales director at Meteor Inkjet said: “Embellishment is one of the fastest-moving areas of label and packaging print, and it puts real demands on a printhead. The KJ4A-EX600RC-HX handles thick, heavily loaded fluids at production speeds, and with the PDC-2K600EX our customers can put it to work straight away on the Meteor platform they already know. That means less engineering effort and a faster route to market.”

Kyocera is scheduled to begin commercial sales of the KJ4A-EX600RC-HX in November 2026, with Meteor’s PDC-2K600EX drive electronics already available in stock.
