ECO3 has entered the digital label press market with the launch of ELIO, a new family of UV inkjet presses combining digital printing hardware with the company’s workflow, color management, inks and support technologies. The ELIO portfolio consists of three configurations – ELIO Essenza 330, ELIO Forma 330 and ELIO Hybrid – targeting different production requirements and investment levels.

The presses use Kyocera inkjet technology and are integrated with ECO3’s ELIO inks and APOGEE Digital workflow software. ELIO Essenza 330 is positioned as an entry point into industrial digital label production. The 330 mm press operates at speeds up to 50 m/min and offers resolution up to 600 × 1200 dpi. Six color channels allow CMYK to be combined with white, while optional inline priming, lamination and diecutting modules can be added.

ELIO Forma 330 increases production speeds to 80 m/min and provides native 1200 × 1200 dpi resolution. The platform supports CMYK along with orange, green, violet and white for an extended color gamut, with LED curing. The third configuration, ELIO Hybrid, combines UV inkjet with conventional flexographic printing in a customized production platform. “Converters do not need more technology for the sake of technology,” says Christian Tebroke, CEO of ECO3.

That is the philosophy behind ELIO: delivering the capabilities they need in a solution that combines performance, flexibility and investment efficiency.” The launch represents a significant expansion for ECO3, which has traditionally supplied the printing industry with prepress systems, printing plates, computer-to-plate technology, workflow software and pressroom products.

“While ELIO marks ECO3’s entry into digital label printing, it builds on decades of experience serving the printing industry,” says Iris Bogunovic, product manager, digital label printing at ECO3. The ELIO portfolio is available for order immediately and will be sold through ECO3’s existing sales and service network in Europe and the Americas.
